Continue to budget
Choose to create either a monthly or weekly budget. It will be saved automatically as you progress. Create a username and password to permanently save your budget so that you can revisit it in the future.BudgetBuilder conveniently takes you through a series of steps. Sources of income first, and then through types of expenditure. Spend a few minutes gathering your bank statements and other useful documents. When you enter a figure, you can choose whether the figure is weekly, four-weekly, monthly etc, and it will do the calculations for you. At the end you will be shown a summary and a detailed budget plus some pretty charts.
It is suggested that you organise you money by separating each expense into a different bank account. There are three types of bank accounts to choose from:
A type of bank account is automatically suggested for each item but you can change it if you wish.
You can add you own items in each step if the existing catagories aren't quite what you need. Press the '+ new' button and enter the name of the item you wish to add. You can even break the item down into sub-items. For example, if you have several different rents to pay each month. BudgetBuilder will then total it up for you.
If you get stuck on any item then help is at hand. The information icon will give you advice on a topic - simply click on it to view.
There is a very useful facility where you can make notes of your own on each item - simply click the notes icon.
At the end of the process the Budget Builder will generate a summary report and a detailed report. You can download these as Adobe Reader (PDF) files or as Microsoft Excel files.
Your budget will be saved as you progress but if you leave the site without saving it yourself it will be lost. At any point you can save your budget permanently by clicking the save button and entering a username and password. You can then return to it at a later date, All you need to do is log back in and carry on where you left off.
